Keith Williams has resigned as our, and the Chamber’s, Joint Director. Lisa Burns is currently minding the store at both entities, until a Director is found for the Chamber. She will then solely work for the GHP as our Executive Director. The Joint Director role was worth a try, but it just didn’t work out. It did, however, bring us to a closer relationship with the Chamber. It will pay huge benefits for our organization in the future.
Now the GREAT NEWS! Lisa Burns will be our new Executive Director. She is incredibly talented and has enormous amounts of energy. She has experience working with other downtown organizations as well. We will be sending her to the Pennsylvania Downtown Conference in Erie. It is a huge opportunity to network with other downtown groups and state agencies.
This year’s goal is to become a designated downtown in the eyes of the state community and economic development agency. The DCED will help us develop an improvement plan for the GHP footprint, and that will lead to grant opportunities. Grants for storefront improvements, streets scape, parking improvements and, yes, light poles.
We also have two interns working for us this summer. You will be hearing more about them in my next communication.
We have many upcoming events this summer. Check out our revamped website for details. The Special Events Committee works so very hard on these events. Please consider helping out. We are also looking for event sponsors. If you are looking to be part of an event, call Lisa – she has many options available. Honesdale really has a lot going on this summer.
Thank you for choosing to be a member and supporting the GHP. If you have any questions, wants, needs, ideas, or just want to buy me lunch give me a call. Have a great day!
