Come out and enjoy Historic Honesdale’s annual event, Harvest and Heritage Days, on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13, 2019. Wayne Bank and the Honesdale Community Church are our platinum event sponsors and Citizens Bank is a bronze sponsor with support from the Pocono Mountain Vacation Bureau and PPL. Our Presidential Sponsor is the Honesdale National Bank.
Immerse in autumn activities for the whole family. Take time to see all the historic buildings and various architecture that our historic town boasts.
So much is planned for this fun fall Columbus Day weekend. There are games and activities for the children in Central Park from 11 AM to 3 PM, including a FREE Petting Zoo, Scavenger Hunt, Yard Dice, & Pumpkin Bowling. Also, Hot Chocolate & air brush tattoos courtesy of Honesdale Community Church; plus pumpkin painting on Main Street with the YMCA. Explore the greater Honesdale area, which offers wonderful shops, eateries, and fine services. Honesdale’s Main Street is eight blocks long with something to interest you on every block!
Craft vendors will line Main Street on both days from 10 AM – 5 PM. Old-fashioned hayrides will be offered downtown, buy your tickets at the corner of Main & 7th (Wayne Bank) for $3, from 1 to 5 PM on Saturday and from 12-4 PM on Sunday. Blacksmith Paul Janusz will also be showcasing his craft of manipulating iron with heat and hammer in the courtyard of R-3 Hardware store at 541 Main Street. In the parking lot of Scarfalloto’s Town House Diner, watch as Chainsaw Carver Larry Wildenstein creates works of art out of logs.
The Wayne County Historical Society Museum on Main Street is open from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, and from 12-4 PM on Sunday. There are many interesting things to learn about Wayne County and our rich history!

We invite you to visit the Wayne County Farmers’ Market on Saturday, October 12, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM where you will find fresh produce, flowers, plants, herbs, and many more locally grown and handmade items. The market is in front of Dave’s Super Duper at 200 Willow Avenue (Rte. 6), Honesdale.
Stop by the Fred Miller Pavilion (on Main Street) on Saturday and Sunday to listen to DJ Tom Emanski from 11-4.
And for the kids, there will be pumpkin painting on Saturday near the Honesdale National Bank’s Corporate Center on Main Street. Pumpkin painting will be available on Saturday, from 10 AM till 2 PM, sponsored by the Wayne County YMCA.
And you’ll want to make the time for a tour of our historic Old Stone Jail. Hear about escapes and hangings! The jail is located next to the rear of the Wayne County Court House off Court Street by our beautiful Central Park and will be open on Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM. Walk down 10th Street where the Old Stone Jail is across from the Senior Center or look for the directional signs.
Stop by the GHP tent in front of the Park ‘N Shop lot near the pavilion to take a chance to win! There will be a 50/50 raffle with chances being sold for just $1 each, 6 for $5 or 15 for $10!
Saturday evening will feature an antique car cruise around Honesdale’s beautiful Central Park, sponsored by the Greater Honesdale Partnership from 4 to 8 PM. There will be 50+ antique and vintage cars for you to enjoy looking at and speaking to the owners. Starting at 5 PM, listen to music from the fifties and sixties, which is bound to bring back some great memories.
On Sunday, October 12, dress up your pet or pets and head to Dessin Animal Shelter’s 11th annual “Pets on Pawrade” costume competition. Registration will begin in Central Park at noon and the parade around the park begins at 1 PM with the costume judging under the Fred Miller Pavilion at about 2 PM. There will be prizes awarded in at least three categories: funniest, scariest and most original. The Dessin furry friends are anxious to show you their costumes. $5 donation per entry.
