Harvest & Heritage Days
October 12 @ 8:00 am - October 13 @ 9:00 pm
Historic Honesdale rolls out the pumpkins, hay bales, cornstalks, fall colors, and scarecrows, for its annual “Harvest & Heritage Days”, Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13.
There will be lots to do this fun, fall weekend. Shoppers will want to explore the greater Honesdale area, which offers lots of wonderful shops, stores, eateries, and fine services.
Craft vendors will line Main Street on both days. Old-fashioned hayrides will be offered, for a small fee, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Railroad buffs can enjoy railroad, canal, glass and other exhibits at the Wayne County Historical Society Museum on Main Street. The newly expanded and renovated museum is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
We invite you to visit the Wayne County Farmers’ Market on Saturday, October 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. where you will find fresh produce, flowers, plants, herbs, locally grown and processed meats, eggs, maple syrup, honey, baked goods and handmade items. The market is located at Dave’s Super Duper on Willow Avenue.
And for the kids, there will be pumpkin painting in front of The Honesdale National Bank’s Corporate Center on Main Street, courtesy of Connections Magazine. Pumpkin painting will be available on Saturday, from noon to 4:00 p.m.
Saturday evening will also feature an antique car cruise around Honesdale’s beautiful Central Park from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. More than 75 antique cars are expected. D.J. Rickie Z will play music from the fifties and sixties starting at 5:00 p.m. to bring back some good old-fashion memories.
Even the critters are excited about Harvest & Heritage Days and they invite you to the Dessin Animal Shelter’s 7th Annual “Pets on Parade” costume competition. The parade down Main Street begins at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, with the costume judging under the Fred Miller Pavilion at approximately 2:00 p.m. The Dessin friends are anxious to show you what they’ve got!
