James Manning House 200th Anniversary
June 9 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm| Free
Come and celebrate our history with a tour of the James Manning House, and stroll through the gardens. The history, architecture and character of the house will be featured. Guests are invited to tour the rooms and learn about the early days of the house and the Bethany area. Outside visitors are encouraged to stroll the grounds and extensive gardens, taking in the heirloom peonies and new garden plantings. Throughout the property, guests will be offered tidbits of appetizers and desserts prepared by family members from the Manning and Heinly families.
Christy Faatz Canzler, a great, great, great-granddaughter of James Manning will be preparing some family-favorite recipes, some new, some old. Christy and her sister are traveling from Oregon to cook in what is their ancestral family kitchen. They will be teaching and sharing recipes with Janet, her daughters and sister. Janet and family will be cooking and sharing recipes from their family traditions. Christy has taught cooking and writes a blog column, “Back to the Table with Grace”; https://backtothetablewithgrace.blogspot.com/
