Funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Keystone Communities Program

WHAT is it? A program to provide financial assistance to property owners and businesses to upgrade the appearance and/or functionality of their properties, in order to foster an attractive shopping environment and preserve Honesdale’s architectural heritage. Grants of up to $5,000 are available.

WHO is eligible? Property owners and tenants in the downtown area between Park Street and Fourth Street, and along Route 6 to 186 Grandview Avenue to the south. Contact GHP for more specific information on
eligibility area.

HOW does it work? Applicants submit a proposal outlining the suggested façade improvements. After review and approval by the GHP Design Committee, applicants are eligible for reimbursement of 50% of the project costs, up to a maximum of $5,000.

ELIGIBLE projects: Exterior doors and windows; exterior lighting; architectural enhancements; exterior signage; exterior paint, woodwork, masonry, & brickwork; building restoration & renovation; awnings; removal of inappropriate materials, etc.

NOT Eligible: Maintenance projects; interior renovations or improvements; plastic signs or window decals; roofing or siding repairs; sidewalks, driveways, or parking lot repairs; improvements to sides of buildings; landscaping; new construction.

TIMELINE: After approval, grantees have six months to complete their projects.
